This easy meatless taco recipe uses our Taco-Seasoned Plant Protein Mix. You can make the taco crumbles with just water, but we like to add a spoonful of salsa to the water for a flavor boost. In addition to tacos, use these crumbles in a rice bowl, salad or your favorite recipe.
Ingredients
-
1 cup (120 g) Taco Seasoned Plant Protein Mix
-
⅓ cup water
-
1-2 teaspoons salsa (optional)
-
1 tablespoon oil
-
½ lime (optional)
Directions
Put Taco Seasoned Plant Protein Mix into a bowl.
In a separate cup, combine water and salsa. Gradually add liquid into the bowl while stirring frequently with a fork. Stop adding water when the mixture is just moist. If the mix is too dry, add one teaspoon of liquid at a time and continue stirring until the dry mix is no longer visible. Let mixture rest while you heat up the pan.
Heat a wide pan over medium heat. Add oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Break mixture into crumbles and add it to the pan in a single layer. Fry for about 5-6 minutes, stirring regularly, until crispy.
When the crumbles are brown and crispy, finish with a squeeze of lime for a touch of brightness. Remove the pan from the heat and let the crumbles rest for about 10 minutes.
Use the crumbles for tacos, burritos, enchiladas and more. It can also be used as an ingredient in your favorite taco filling recipe.
Recipe Note
